High-brow or downright pretentious, good PNR or sparkly vampires, I don't care about the premise so long as it entertains me.

Bullying: The Social Destruction of Self
Laura Martocci
The Ghost and the Goth - Stacey Kade So from the summary of the book you guys already must know what would happen - after all, this isn't a new concept. Boy meets girl, or vice versa, they can't stand each other, fate gets them to work together, they get over themselves, yada-yada-yada. However, as we all know, originality doesn't always save a book. This is one of those novels - little substance, but rich in execution. The characters are your usual stereotypes, but they're nevertheless fleshed out and realistic. They're funny, quirky, and intense in the way only teens can be, without losing their sense of 'real'. They deal with the trouble in their lives in a way that is surprisingly drama-free, or at least relatively drama-free, given the circumstances. I'm not saying that everything is peaches and roses for any of the people in the book, but the heavy, difficult issues are dealt with elegance and acceptance, rather than angst and dark thoughts. There's another plus in favor of this book - the focus isn't entirely on the main duo. Every character, no matter how little we see of them, if carefully constructed and three-dimensional, and it makes you take the book so much more seriously than you would some of the drama-packed triologies out there.Plus, it's pretty self-contained, so if you don't want to read the sequel that comes out next year, you don't have to worry about cliffhangers (some say 'Hallelujah' for me).But seriously, the reason why I liked this book as much as I did is more because it made me laugh. It made me sit there, read the heroes' antics and chuckle, giggle and roar at their antics. It made me root for them. It showed off the whole 'life isn't black and white' concept without shoving it into your face. But most of all...I loved it because I bet Will really has a killer grin!
